Note From Congo: Bob and Kristi Rice

Dear FPC Champaign,

Greetings!  We hope you are well.  We appreciate your continued partnership in God’s work in Congo.  Thank you for your financial contributions and for your prayers.  We are thankful to know that you are standing with us and our Congolese brothers and sisters.

We are now in our third year in Kananga, DRC. We just returned to Congo after five months of medical leave, and are grateful for your prayers and God’s faithfulness in enabling us to return to Congo. In the midst of a challenging environment, we are inspired by the faith and hope of our colleagues in the Presbyterian Church in Congo.  We feel privileged to serve alongside them in proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ.

In the next few months there are some ministry opportunities that we are excited about. The Evangelism Department is helping people to acquire Bibles. We are planning a couple of trainings for laity in remote synods. We will make our first visit to the rural region of East Kasai to encourage and meet with churches. A meeting is being planned for the leadership of the rural pastoral institutes to envision with them the future of these schools.  And we are also hopeful that regional youth conferences can be held throughout Kasai to empower and encourage the faith of the youth of the church.

We hope you have been receiving our newsletters (posted on our PCUSA web-page). If there is anyone you would like to add to receive these updates, please let us know.  You are in our thoughts and prayers each week.  It was a joy to meet Bob and Claudia Kirby in December.  It was also a joy to meet Fiston and Betshael.  We are impressed by the active mission engagement of your church, both locally and abroad.  Thank you again for connecting with us and with Congo.

Warmly in Christ,
Bob and Kristi
